Pregnancy checks

During your pregnancy you will come to us regularly for check-ups: the pregnancy checks. We monitor your health and the growth of your baby with examinations and ultrasounds. Of course there is also plenty of room for your questions and sharing your experience(s).

To register

As soon as you know you are pregnant, you can make an appointment with us for the first check-up. You can register without a referral from your GP. You can register by telephone, but also via email form on our site. Of course you can also have a nice time at practice come to register at the counter. After making the appointment, you will receive a confirmation email from us.

First ultrasound: at 7-8 weeks of pregnancy

Because we know that the first weeks of pregnancy can be exciting, we will make the first ultrasound before the first appointment with us as midwives. This early ultrasound is intended to assess whether the heart is beating and whether there is a multiple pregnancy (twins or more). You will also have a receive a term ultrasound to determine your due date.

It is important to arrive with a well-filled bladder for both ultrasounds. It is best to drink 3 to 4 glasses of water half an hour to an hour before the ultrasound.

First check-up at the consultation

At 10 weeks of pregnancy, you will come to us as a midwife for the intake. This intake appointment will take approximately 60 minutes. If you have a partner, it is nice if you come to this appointment together, but of course it is not necessary. If you do not have a partner, it is of course also good if you bring someone else if you like.

Health Questionnaire

During the intake we will discuss a questionnaire about your health and that of your family. This way we can determine if there are any special circumstances that we need to consider during the pregnancy, delivery or in the future. maternity must take into account. If necessary, a consultation with the gynecologist will take place after the intake to discuss what care is required.

During the intake we will provide you with information about our practice, possible examinations and maternity care. We will measure your blood pressure and ask your weight before pregnancy.

Free heart consultation

Every 2 weeks we have a free Tuesday evening from 6:15 PM to 7:15 PM heart consultation hour. You can walk in here without an appointment: for everyone from 14 weeks there is 5 minutes per person to listen to the baby. Of course you can also bring someone with you! Even if someone is pregnant but does not receive care from us, you are welcome to come along. Due to time constraints, the heart consultation hour is not intended for medical questions, but only to listen to the heartbeat. Follow us on Instagram and Facebook for the dates and times.

Follow-up checks

All our checks last 20 minutes as standard, so that in addition to the medical checks there is always time for your questions and feelings. At each check, the growth of your uterus and the baby is determined by feeling your belly. In addition, we measure your blood pressure at each check. From 14 weeks it is possible to listen to the baby's heart with the Doppler and we will do this as standard.

What do we do during pregnancy checks and when:

  • Hearing the heartbeat: we can let you hear the baby's heartbeat via a doptone on your stomach from about the 15th week
  • Determining your baby's position: from the 28th week we can feel the baby's position
  • Descended or not yet? In the last weeks of your pregnancy we feel whether the baby has descended properly into the pelvis.

During each pregnancy check-up we discuss how you feel and how you are experiencing the pregnancy. You can also ask all your questions. It can be useful to put these questions down on paper in advance as a reminder so that you don't forget anything to discuss. In addition to your partner and any children, other family members and/or friends are also very welcome to attend the pregnancy checks.

Longer appointment 30 minutes

At a number of points during the pregnancy we plan extra time for the check-up, for example because we want to give you extra information and need time to discuss it with you. One of those longer check-ups is between 34 and 36 weeks, when we talk about the impending delivery. From 40 weeks onwards we may schedule extra time, for example to carry out an internal examination.

Pregnancy card

When your blood results and due date are known, you will receive a pregnancy card from us. This will record all the information that is important for the pregnancy, the delivery and the postpartum period. It is useful to take your card with you on holiday.

Personal care path during your pregnancy

Every pregnant woman is discussed in our consultation within the practice. We do this so that every midwife is aware of who you are and what your wishes are regarding our guidance of the pregnancy. Of course, we are happy to process your personal wishes in your own care path, so that we can offer you care that meets your needs.
