Calling instructions for delivery

When do you call the midwife?
The time has come: your baby is going to be born! When labor starts, it is important to know when to call us. For deliveries and emergencies, we are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week via our mobile telephone number: 06-53 65 91 91. You will always be contacted immediately by the midwife on duty at that number. If you cannot contact us on this number, please try again later. In case of emergency, it is also possible to page us via pager. You will hear how to do this via the voicemail of our mobile number.
Calling instructions for delivery
If you are between 37 and 42 weeks pregnant and have no medical indication, you can give birth under our supervision. We will discuss the instructions during an appointment, so that you know what applies to you. Of course you can always call us if you feel necessary.
When should you call us?
- In case of blood loss, contractions or amniotic fluid loss (or suspicion of contractions or amniotic fluid loss) before the 37th week
- From 37 weeks with contractions that come every 4 to 5 minutes for 2 hours and last for one minute
- Have you ever given birth? We will then discuss with you during consultation hours when you should call us once the contractions have started
- When you lose brown or green amniotic fluid, or are unsure about the color
- In case of loss of amniotic fluid when the head has not descended
(we will tell you this during the consultation hours if this is the case with you) - In case of clear amniotic fluid loss, you should at least call during the day
- Do your waters break at night, is the amniotic fluid clear and are you not having contractions? Then you can wait until the morning before calling
- In case of blood loss without contractions
- With a lot of bright red blood loss during childbirth
- If you and/or your partner are concerned or if you have any questions.
Every birth is different, so you can always call us if you have any doubts, questions or concerns.
