Our guidance in the event of a (possible) miscarriage

A positive test gives a lot of joy and expectation, but at the same time it is very normal to also feel uncertainty. Especially in the early stages of pregnancy, symptoms such as blood loss or abdominal pain can make you worry. If you've had one before miscarriage have been through, we understand that this can be a lonely and anxious period. That is why we offer extensive support and advice, even if you are concerned about a possible miscarriage.

Blood loss, risk of miscarriage

If you experience bleeding or abdominal pain during your pregnancy, do not hesitate to contact us. You can reach us on telephone number 06 53 65 91 91. We are there to support you, even if you are not yet registered with us. The chance of a miscarriage depends on a number of things, but is on average between 10-15%. It is important to know that blood loss does not always indicate a miscarriage. In fact, blood loss in 50% results in a miscarriage, which also means that there is an equal chance that the pregnancy will proceed well.

Causes of miscarriage

Miscarriages often have no clear cause. Factors such as smoking, multiple previous miscarriages, and age can increase the risk. Many miscarriages are the result of chromosomal abnormalities in the baby, and in rare cases an abnormality of the uterus can cause a late miscarriage. Can you prevent a miscarriage? It's a frequently asked question, but the answer is no. Intensive activities, sex, stress or traveling are not proven causes of miscarriage.

How does a miscarriage happen?

A miscarriage is often accompanied by cramps in your lower abdomen. You may see some tissue during the blood loss, this is the fetus and sometimes also the placenta. Sometimes it happens that a miscarriage does not start on its own, so you can choose to take medication to initiate the miscarriage. If you have doubts about a possible miscarriage, repeating a pregnancy test is not useful. The test will still be positive even if the pregnancy does not progress well.
